Peyton wanted to go for a run Thursday after school, their meet got cancelled due to rain (but will be rescheduled...)  so all 3 of us went, I stayed with Sophie but we made it down to Horsetooth which was the goal and back.  Peyton did really well and I had a lot of fun.  We took Gilda and Scout because Buddy was REALLY sick.  SO that night I was checking on Buddy who had been sick for a day and I took his temp and I was sure I would have to take him in on Friday because he would not even get out of the kennel when I called him, vomiting not eating or drinking, I was with him fro3-3:30am.  Then on Friday when we got up he was seemingly all better and even ate a little.  Then that day I was walking him and he passed a corn cob small one so I think it was a foreign body, I was so glad he passed that.  He then felt so much better I just about sank with relief that the little guy was feeling better.
Saturday we went to LaMars and got donuts and then went up and hiked up to Dixon from the Cottonwood Glen area, we each took a dog.  It lasted about an hour and was really enjoyable even though Peyton said later that she hated it.  Then we went to the CSU forestry fair which was small but the people were so nice and it was interesting, a few crafts, we got to see and touch the white fire repellent that we watched them spray from the giant hose.  They actually gave out donuts so the girls I think were pretty full when they were about 3/4 through with that donut!  We had the dogs there too because they did not mind that we brought them and they were so well behaved.
Next we headed to JC Penny where the girls got a haircut and style before getting their photos taken.  When the lady was finishing up on Sophie I asked her to curl her hair just a little, It was such a frightfully hideous style.  It looked like her hair was sticking out in all directions.  I went to the front to pay and 3 other stylists were up there and I told them that was the worst styling job I had ever seen and I had to go right to photos.  So one of the ladys took Sophie back to fix it up which Sophie of course took personally and did not want to do.  It looked better when she was done but I think the lady cut way too much off fro hair that was just about tolerable in length.  The photos actually turned out really well.
We went to BK (girls) and TB (mom) for a quick bite before going home.  We watched Return to Halloweentown and I rested a bit then took the dogs out.  Then I had the girls do their chores which went pretty well and later we watched Harry Potter number 1 and I made 3 batched of yummy sweet peach freezer jam.
Now it is Sunday and we will have Stake Conference at 10:00.

California

Well, Peyton, Sophie and I went to LA last weekend to visit my sister Teresa and to meet her new husband, Julious.  It was a great although tiring trip.  We went to the Santa Monica Pier, a Crepe restaurant, Hollywood Boulevard, Disneyland, the LeBrea Tar Pits museum, the Santee Ally Garment district for some shopping, and then to the beach to body surf.  The beach was great, the water was warmer than in the Atlantic ocean to be sure.  The problem was there were sand fleas for about 20 feet into the shore so you had to run across them and they would bite your feet!  That sort of scared the girsl to death!  It was so fun to catch up with my sister and realize just how much we do have in common.  Great trip.  It is good to be home also and see all the pets and to get geared up for school, starts Friday for Peyton and Monday for Sophie.  Rich comes home from Singapore on Tuesday the 23 so then we will be back to "normal".

We got to go to the Larimer County Fair today and see the exhibits. It brings back so many memories of my youth. I loved being at the fair and seeing the animals and our home economics projects. I love going to this fair to see all the hard work that people still do with their hands and their creativity and to see that there are still youth that are interested in animals.
Peyton made a pillowcase for a tubular and got first place in her division. Sophie made a stuffed unicorn out of fleece and she got first place in her division! I made my usual, a quilt, it is a queen size with an appliqued border of 32 flowers on a vine, I got first place! It was a good year!

The weekend was productive. I got the tile floor in the bathroom, now we just need to grout it. Our neighbors had a carbon monoxide alarm go off at about 8:30pm so as we were returning from seeing the last Harry Potter movie we rounded the corner to our house to see two fire trucks with the lights flashing and wondered if our house was on fire! We were able to have them come in to our home and wait for the CO to be mitigated. We are grateful hat they had the alarms though.

Today Sophie finished her summer goal of riding her bike 100 miles. She was pretty excited about that.
This is Sophie. And I thought I couldn't but I guess I was wrong. I just went a couple mils a day and as soon as I could I got it!!!! we went bowling every single day from the start of summer (except Sundays)! My score was 140!!! That's amazing my mom said and my dad said "Wow you're a natural at bowling!" and my sister said "Great job Sophie." My mom got a turkey the other day (3 strikes in a row) and a score of 179. My dad got a 4 bagger once (4 strikes in a row) but I don't remember his score.

And so you have it, we will be going bowling soon and see what we get today!
